The Bullring and Tile Africa partner for an 'upgraded' fan experience
Bidvest Wanderers Stadium is excited to announce an innovative partnership with Tile Africa. This three-year agreement will see a staged project where all the washrooms in Bidvest Wanderers Stadium will be redone with fashionable, high-quality tiling finishes.
Bidvest Wanderers Stadium is renowned for ensuring the best stadium experience and are dedicated to enhancing its facilities in line with consumer needs. Convenient washroom facilities play a far bigger role in cricket than any other game due to the fact that patrons spend a significant amount of time at the ground watching games. The aim of this partnership is to create an all-round memorable time enjoying the Bullring by enhancing the amenities that play a crucial role during a match day for the spectators.
The GCB has prided itself on continuously looking for ways in which to ensure that it makes consumer centric business decisions in terms of giving the public what they want to ensure an experience which leads to return visits. Ultimately the perception of the brand manifests in the minds of the consumer and that’s why Bidvest Wanderers Stadium strives to achieve a memorable reflection in people’s minds.
Chief Executive of the Gauteng Cricket Board (GCB), Greg Fredericks commented: “We are dedicated to giving the fans the absolute best possible day out and maintain the high standard they have come to expect at the Bullring. I strongly believe that upgrading the stadium’s washrooms will be a welcome added feature to the match day experience for cricket fans. We want to remove all possible barriers to entry for fans when deciding to attend our games.”
Tile Africa have welcomed this project as it gives the public a tangible experience to the products that they have within their range.
Conrad Bock, Lead Executive of Tile Africa, a division of Norcros SA (Pty) Ltd, commented: “Tile Africa is extremely proud to partner with GCB on this project and to have the opportunity to showcase our tiles in one of the most iconic cricket stadiums in South Africa’s cricket history.”
Belinda Barrington is the architectural specifier for the Tile Africa Commercial Division who was tasked with putting together the winning combination of products for this exciting project. The bespoke design shows décor inspiration while remaining fit for purpose for each washroom area within the stadium. Says Belinda,
“We have aimed to break the stereotype of the intrepid trip to the public washroom by transforming it into a place where people can potentially see products that inspire them to start that bathroom renovation in their own home.”
Further discussions will also take place around Tile Africa supporting some of the facility enhancement initiatives that the GCB undertakes in previously disadvantaged communities.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) Acting Chief Executive, Thabang Moroe sees this move by the GCB as one that fits CSA’s strategic goal of promoting cricket as the entertainment option of choice. “We want our stadiums full and when they are full, we want our fans to have a great time out. This partnership between the GCB and Tile Africa, is just another way that the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium is leading in terms of being consumer focussed and listening to what would significantly impact on how fans are enjoying the match day and supporting our teams.”
